Wisłostrada 2009 – Open Art Festival – MAKATA Artistic Association
Wisłostrada is the biggest 3-day celebration of arts fusion in Warsaw. Both new and acclaimed artists representing such disciplines as music, film, theatre, visual art, contemporary dance, interactive installation, and circus art, will showcase their artistic accomplishments. A strictly artistic sphere will be complemented by culinary art, leisure and sport activities, as well as educational and ecological projects, not to mention… a wide spectrum of workshops and attractions for the young ones and their parents.
The idea of the festival is OPENNESS, fusion and interactivity of art and its viewers. The festival is directed to a wide and diverse audience, whose common traits are: individuality, open mind and curiosity of the world. In turn, VISTULA provides a pivotal point of the festival, being a green oasis of calm in the heart of the city, while at the same time an amazing natural vehicle of culture, offering a breath of fresh air, inspiration and energy for artistic activities.
Festival village will include:
a large outdoor scene, with perfomances from such music stars as Maria Peszek and Czesław Mozil; with the participation of Łąki Łan and Kochankowie Gwiezdnych Przestrzeni, promoting their new albums; and the godfather of Polish Tricity scene – Tymon and his Transistors, surrounded by the hottest seaside bands: the hypnotic Pink Freud and the explosive Dick4Dick;
detroitZDRoJ! scene, intended for Audio/Video installations; on Saturday, alongside such renowned German performers as the Wighnomy Bros, the prince of Polish electronic music, Jacek Sienkiewicz, will unveil his latest album. On Friday, Hiro magazine will stage “Chłopomania” – a live audiovisual performance;
a sound system scene with performances from such London legends as Kenny Knots and Bush Chemist.
What is more: Makata Theatre, Klinika Lalek, One Face Theatre from Italy, as well as a cinema tent, showcasing screenings prepared in collaboration with the National Film School in Łódź. Plus: results of the competition for young DJs and VJs, and a freestyle battle for the Vistula.
The festival programme will also feature lectures and artistic activities centred around the tents of Greenpeace and Foundation for the Development of the Educational System, together with leisure and sport activities, dance, music and animation workshops – an attraction park, a Tyrolean traverse, a playground for children. The festival activities will be held both during the day and night and the programme of events will come to an end with a final gig set on board of a barge, featuring Kryzys Brylewskiego, Bajzel and Uado Taraban Trans, who will lead the spectators into the Summer Solstice Night.
