VISTULA ART KAYAK project is a combination of active recreation with an educational cultural programme addressed to young people and seniors, residents of Warsaw and foreign tourists.
The participants of kayaking trips will have a chance to get to know Warsaw from the river’s perspective. In this way, they will discover the secrets of its overgrown riverbanks, penetrated only by fishermen and lovers. Moreover, a kayak ride will make their encounter with nature more powerful. The Vistula, despite being challenging, fickle and teaching humility, is also perfect for active (and sensible) water sports leisure. From the perspective of a kayak you can feel the river and notice its hidden beauty. In such a way, the space by the Vistula can become a singular source of artistic inspiration.
Artistic kayaking trips
AVE Foundation invites you for a cycle of unique educational and artistic kayaking tours on the Vistula, open for all the inhabitants, but in a particular way directed to young people and seniors. The Vistula, which divides Warsaw in two as far as transport goes, may become a space of intergenerational integration.
The heart of the expeditions will consist in creative music, photography and literary workshops. The activities will take place during several stopovers on the right bank of the Vistula. During music kayak tours participants will be acquainted with songs about Warsaw and the Vistula, guided by a professional musician. Those taking part in photography expeditions will benefit from some useful tips shared by a professional, who will also reveal some secrets to taking pictures and observing nature. At the end, the participants will create their own feature on the wild Vistula in the heart of the big city.
The tours will embark at the WKW wharf in Warsaw (Wał Miedzeszyński, Wawer district) at 9 a.m. and disembark at the riverbank in Białołęka district, Tarchomin, at 6 p.m.
Tours for foreign tourists
Foreign tourists will have a chance to take part in specially prepared kayaking trips. Kayaking expeditions on the Vistula will be regarded as a new tourist attraction in Warsaw and will offer an opportunity for a genuine close encounter with the river. The participants will listen to folk tales about the Vistula in English, as well as will be granted a chance to learn two songs about Warsaw.
